One thing we have stressed in class is contact time. We watched a youtube video of a guy jumping from a high height and landing on a cushioned mat. The reason he landed on a cushioned mat was because he wanted to increase his contact time with the mat so the impact he hits the mat with is reduced.
Above, I have already made contact with the ball and I am starting to follow through with my swing. Following through helps increase contact time and force. If I had little contact time the ball, like a bunt, the ball would not go as far because the change in momentum is not as high. Having a follow through adds force which helps velocity. This is the same with throwing a ball and punching. The collision with a bat and ball is elastic because the ball bounces off the bat.
wow great picture, it is caught at the perfect time, with the ball just in range it really shows what we learned this previous lesson, good job and keep up the good work.
